Poetry. "A CAST OF TENS maps the reversals in the human mind - in words, sequences, embedded myths and unshakable stories. The effect is breathtaking, with stark topography and dangerous structure" -Susan Smith Nash.

These mathematically plotted poems are beyond criticism. If you cannot enjoy them, according to the poet, it may be because you are indifferent or ugly: "If you are as a reader indifferent, they will prove an indifferent read; if you are ugly, and find ugliness repulsive, these will repel you." This is the author's 29th book. Whether it is language poetry, nonsense poetry, or "specula . . . where different subsets of language collide," it attempts to replace syntax, logic, and mimesis with a kind of word opera: "Here comes the mail/but no letter from your spouse/ How well does she know you/ for that matter, Luis/Nuestra, Nuestro--many kinds of snow/Do pesos drop, and how many?/ Dawns break into any language/ bringing its thoughts of itselves/ The one saying madrugada." Some of this might be fun set to music. Unfortunately, Bromige thinks it already is. Not recommended.
