_Asleep in the Lightning Fields_ is the winning manuscript in the 2001 edition of the X.J. Kennedy Award, chosen by Henry Taylor, the Pulitzer Prize winning poet and published by Texas Review Press, a member of the Texas A&M University Press Consortium. The annual award, given annually to the best full-length poetry manuscript, is named for the distinguished author, poet and anthologist, X.J. Kennedy.
