Gr 3-4-Short, easy-to-read historical fiction set in Boston in 1773. Sarah Turner, 11, works with her parents in their King Street coffeehouse. She recalls the evening three years before when she left the house, witnessed the Massacre, and returned home safely, unnoticed. Luck continues to travel with Sarah as she defies the Redcoats and her parents by sneaking around, even participating in the Boston Tea Party, to find out who's been disloyal to the colonies. Hemphill includes lots of facts to give readers a sense of Revolutionary War history, but the story is forced. The overly heroic antics of young Sarah also weaken the book's validity. Uninspired black-and-white illustrations appear throughout.-Linda Beck, Indian Valley Public Library, Telford, PA
