Synopsis
Well-known Ohio trial lawyer and musician, David Greer, may also become Ohio's favorite dinner guest. This is not just a local history about the lawyers and judges of Dayton. Sluff of History's Boot Soles is a study of particulars in search of universals. Within a 200-year sweep of Ohio history distinct personalities come to life: Samuel Markham thought his driver's license carried an exemption to observing red traffic lights since he acquired his license before such lights came into existance; Irvin Delscamp brought his lunch in a paper bag to his office fearing if he left, Jack Egan would go through the mail and take all the fees. When Jack Patricoff's client received a stiff prison sentence the client turned to his lawyer and asked "What to we do now? Patricoff serenly replied, "I think you'll go to the penetentiary and I think I'll go back to my office." The comic episode or the deflating moment always triumps over pride, pomposity, and pretense. It's a tapestry of the people and events in a notable Midwestern Big Town. It's a compendium of stories, sketches, and facts with many entrances and exits.
