Focus Forecasting and DRP looks at the objectives of Inventory Management and the issues of logistics in running an efficient, profitable, high quality operation. In the first half of the book concepts and background of Focus Forecasting(r) are explained and strategies for applying an appropriate formulas for your forecasted products are provided. Bernie Smith emphasizes the roles of the management team in establishing the aggregate forecasting. He discusses the reasons for differences between item forecasts and the company plan, presents alternatives to global forecasts such as distribution center forecasts or customer forecasts and he stresses the issues of accuracy and measuring the forecast.

Two chapters are devoted to the importance of creating sound demand histories and special forecast considerations such as promotion items, cyclical promotions, lumpy demand items, discontinued items and dependent demand items.
