Kraven Images is a slapstick romp that follows the affairs and conquests of Nicholas Marcus Kraven, a Jewish Englishman and lecturer at Mosholu College in New York City. With his amorous sights set on--among others--his enemy's girlfriend Naomi (for whose poetry he professes enough enthusiasm to warrant a private conference on his bed), his married upstairs neighbor, Stella, and Stella's sister, Candida (alias Candy Peaches), who is stripping her way through graduate school, Kraven's social life is full, to say the least. When Stella's husband begins production of the Bardic Follies, a striptease rendition of Shakespeare starring Ms. Peaches, Nicholas finds himself entangled in a web of sexual liaisons and pillow-talk commitments from which escape seems impossible.
Alan Isler lives in New york City and Sag Harbor, NY. He also is the author of Clerical Errors and The Bacon Fancier He formerly was a professor of English at Queens College.

"Alan Isler's first novel, 'The Prince of West End Avenue,' was one of the five nominees for the 1994 National Book Critics Circle Award for fiction and won the National Jewish Book Award. It was a marvelous blend of comedy and tragedy. In Isler's new novel the accent is on comedy. It is 1974. Nicholas Kraven, lecturer in English Literature at Mosholu College in the Bronx, is adrift on a sea of troubles: his affair with his neighbor's wife threatens to progress from Thursday nights to permanence; his students are a mixture of campus revolutionaries and an old man intent on proving Merlin was a Jew; an elderly academic specialist in Love, possessor of a devastatingly effective aphrodisiac and a libido that belies her years, has alarming designs on his person; the Kraven demons, a familial curse, are in hot pursuit; and a specter from his past, the one man who can smash his chaotic life to ruins, is expected imminently." 264 pages.
