About the Author

Born in Norway, Michigan, J. J. Van Gasse, M.D., M.P.H. attended the University of Michigan where he earned his Bachelor's and Medical Degrees, returning later to acquire a Master's Degree in Public Health. He has worked in the pharmaceutical industry, served in the army, and was a member of the United States Committee to the World Health Organization. He currently resides and practices medicine in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he lives with his wife, Kathyrn.

Dr. Van Gasse is also the author of Yellow Garden, Father,Son, What Am I Allergic Too? and Night's Soft Folds: The Life & Poetry of Josephine Van Gasse Basiliko (the authors' aunt).
