About the Author

Theresa R. Fitzgerald has been a fourth grade teacher with the Linden Community Schools since 1992, shortly after graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree through the University of Michigan-Flint. She earned her Masters degree in Math/Science Elementary Education through Eastern Michigan University.

Residing in mid-Michigan, Theresa has been involved in helping to develop the district's elementary science curriculum, and has presented science workshops at the county level. Her latest ventures involve using technology in the classroom.

Theresa's love of math and interest in helping children understand its concepts lead to the development of the math dictionary. The need for a math resource to help elementary and middle school children and their parents with terminology and concepts became apparent as Theresa's daughter, Amanda, grew. Developed over a period of about 10 years, its use on a daily basis has helped her students find sustained success in math.
