Volume 2 in this series covers the formation and operation of the Aurora, Elgin & Fox River Electric Company, formed in 1924 to take over the street cars and interurbans lines in the Fox River Valley from the bankrupt Aurora, Elgin & Chicago Railroad. Although largely a pictorial history, the book is packed with information on every aspect of the line, including a list of officers, employee reminiscences, details about maintenance, timetables, advertisements and transportation in Aurora and Elgin before the arrival of the trolleys.
