About the Author

Jim Steinberg is the author of the regional best seller, Colorado Less Traveled. He has been a professional photographer and resident of Steamboat Springs for over thirty years. His passion for nature's beauty has led him to remote corners of Colorado and around the world. Steinberg's work has appeared in numerous magazines, including National Geographic, Life, Backpacker, Earth, Nature Conservancy, Scientific American, Nature's Best, Discover, National Parks, U.S. News & World Report, Newsweek, and Sierra Club. He is represented by the photo stock agencies Photo Researchers and Animals, Animals Earth Scenes. His work can be seen at jimsteinbergphotography and coloradoscenicbyways.com, and AGPix.com and his gallery in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Susan J. Tweit is a plant ecologist who turned to writing when she fell in love with the stories behind the data. Her writing on the relationships that make up the; Community of the land; has won regional and national awards. She is the author of ten books including, Seasons in the Desert, nominated for Western States Book Award and the San Luis Valley: Sand Dunes and Sandhill Cranes, as well as hundreds of newspaper and magazine articles from Audubon and Wilderness to youngARTS, the Los Angeles Times, and Popular Mechanics. She and Jim Steinberg collaborated previously on Colorado Less Traveled, a finalist for the Colorado Book Awards. She lives with her husband, the sculptor, Richard Cabe, in a reclaimed patch of urban wilderness in Salida, Colorado.
