About the Author:

RAPHAEL J. BECVAR, Ph.D., is a Clinical Member of and Approved Supervisor with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). He has been on the faculties of many prestigious colleges, including St. Louis University, where he created the doctoral program in Marriage and Family Development and Therapy and was at the same time Director of Counselor Education. During his tenure at Northeast Louisiana University, he held an endowed chair as the Hanna F. Spyker Distinguished Professor of Marriage and Family Therapy. In 1986, Ray was designated a Fellow of the AAMFT. Ray is sought after as a speaker and presents workshops on a variety of topics throughout the United States while maintaining a part-time private practice in St. Louis.

DOROTHY S. BECVAR, Ph.D., is a Clinic al Member of and Approved Supervisor with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). She has been on the faculties of many prestigious colleges. She has been a divisional president, chair of the Divisional Affairs council, a member of the Board of Directors of AAMFT and is currently completing a three-year term as Chair of the StandardsCommittee. She is a member and secretary of the first Board of Liscensed Marital and Family Therapists in Missouri. She is a member ofthe advisory board of the AAMFT Regulatory Boards.
