The world of educating students with hearing loss has changed considerably in recent years due to the nationwide success of early identification of hearing loss, early amplification options, and the continuing evolution of hearing technology. A student with hearing loss is now more likely than ever to be mainstreamed into a typical classroom in the home district, often as the only student with hearing loss in the school.
