The program provides a pronunciation guide, brief grammar, useful phrases, many food words, animal words and family terms, how to tell time and household words. Also provided is the Choctaw origin legend written in both Choctaw and English.

Charles G. "Charley" Jones was born in 1917 in Honobia near Ludlow OK. A full-blood, Charley spoke only Choctaw until he was sent to Indian school in Hugo, OK. In January 1991, Charley was awarded the Distinguished Service Award for his work preserving the Choctaw culture and he recently translated the Choctaw Constitution into English for the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC.
