About the Author
Author Tommy Strother graduated from Montclair State College, The John Marshall Law School and the Naval War College.
He served as a Surface Warfare Officer in USS Spiegel Grove, USS Carr and USS Harlan County.
On these afloat tours, he participated in Special Operations and Law Enforcement Operations in the Caribbean, and participated in the final phases of both Operation Earnest Will and Operation Desert Storm. His operational billet ashore was in Second Air/Naval Gunfire Liason Company where he served as the Senior Naval Gunfire Liason Officer and for six months as Executive Officer. Strother's operational Qualifications include Surface Warfare Officer, Small Craft Officer-in-Charge and service as a universal spotter in a United States Marine Corps unit.
Mr. Strother's non-operational shore billets consisted of three seperate two-year tours at the United States Naval Academy. He taught in succession, Seamanship and Navigation, Military History and served as the Honor Education Officer in the Character Development Division. He retired as a Lieutenant Commander in 1998.
In the aftermath of September 11th he serves as Chemical-Biological Training Action Officer on a Navy Staff that deals with Counter Proliferation, Anti-Terrorism-Force Protection and Homeland Security.
