About the Author

Julie Checkoway is the head of the creative writing program at the University of Georgia and was the 1998-1999 president of the Associated Writing Programs. Since 1967, The Associated Writing Programs, or AWP, has supported writers and writing programs around the world. AWP currently supports over 20,000 writers at over 320 member colleges and universities and 60 writers' conferences and centers.
