Softcover. Condition: Very Good. Denali, which stands 20,320 feet above sea level, is North America's highest and most awe-inspiring peak. The tremendous scale of this mountain defies the imagination--it is one of the earth's greatest wonders. Denali, however, can be as fierce and unforgiving as it is majestic. Extreme winds, bitter cold temperatures, thin air, treacherous crevasse fields, and the danger of burial by avalanche are just a few of the objective hazards ever present on the mountain. In June of 1991, a lone climber set out to experience the harsh but beautiful conditions found on the high slopes of Denali, and ultimately to stand on the summit of North America. '6194 Denali Solo" recounts this amazing adventure and the events which led the climber to explore this seldom-trodden landscape. In words and photographs, this book conveys not only what it is like to be so high and so far from civilization, but what extreme adventures like these teach us about ourselves. Illustrated with breathtaking photographs and reference-quality maps. Seller Inventory # SKU2010021105
