Reviews

"Humor is ageless, timeless, and always within reach," author/reader Green reminds us. She asserts that her main qualification for writing about humor is that she has been a mother for 178 years, the combined ages of her five children. Green insists that a spirit of love and playfulness sustained her household. She encourages the use of humor with hospital and nursing home patients, and, fittingly, she is a national consultant on healthcare and humor. Each of us has the capacity to understand humor and the lifelong chance to build on it, she says. Green then mentions some of the habits of highly cheerful people, such as collecting cartoons and jokes to share with family and friends. This excellent and practical self-help title is a welcome relief from the usual depressing fare. Highly recommended for public libraries.?Ravonne, Green, Emmanuel Coll. Lib., Franklin Springs, Ga.
