Dallas native Peter A. Calvin captures this prominent city s dauntless spirit through an extensive collection of beautiful images. This cultured and sophisticated East Texas metropolis is infused with a wild west flavor, a revitalized downtown and is a city rich in historical pride. Buildings restored to historic grandeur are evident in images of the Dallas Heritage Village, the Swiss Avenue Historic District, and Romanesque Old Red row houses. Modern skyscrapers dominate the skyline against the Art Deco buildings built for The Texas Centennial in 1935. The book contains Dallas photos of arts facilities like the Nasher Sculpture Center and the Dallas Museum of Art, as well as sports venues including, the annual Texas Stampede Rodeo. In a location with so much to do, tranquility can still be found in Calvin s photos of the lovely Dallas Arboretum, the lawns of Lakeside park and the paths of Lee Park.
