About the Author

Dr. Lareau Lindquist founded his organization Barnabas International with his wife Evie 20 years ago. Barnabas has a staff of more than 50 that serve Christian ministers and missionaries in more than 115 countries worldwide. Before starting Barnabas International Dr. Lindquist was Executive Director for the Institute for Holy Land Studies, and a former senior pastor of First Evangelical Free Church in Rockford, Illinois. Before that he pastored several churches in California and Nebraska. He is a graduate of Trinity Evangelical College and Seminary.

I recently spent time with some old friends. During the course of conversation, they told me that they had begun reading Lareau Lindquist's Encouragement Letter. They then told me how God had used these brief letters to minister to them during particularly difficult times that they d experienced. As I ve traveled and listened to peoples stories, I ve found this to be a common theme. Lareau has blessed many people around the world over the last twenty years. I was pleased to see the first collection of them in his first book, Too Soon to Quit. And now, I am also greatly pleased to see its anticipated sequel Why, Lord...Why? This book isn t theoretical, written from the comfort and safety of an ivory tower. From my years of knowing the Lindquists I know that they have faced their own share of circumstances prompting one to ask the why questions. Lareau and Evie have also spent the last two decades traveling the world, listening and ministering encouragement to those who serve on the front lines. They have heard the heart cries personally, Why, Lord...Why? Yet Lareau has written a cheerful, openhearted book in a positive style that makes one feel that the words are coming from a friend. His warmth disarms. His note of encouragement finds a way into the hearts of readers and is embedded there.
