At the Northern tip of the Planet Ree, there is a frigid land, covered in ice and snow. According to legend, the three-legged Pookas thrive in the freezing temperatures. The Legend of the Snow Pookas not only engages young readers with vibrant illustrations and rhyming text, it imparts common sense values to children. By discovering the truth about Snow Pookas - that they spend their icy days caring for the gigantic Talking Trees of Northern Ree - Jeeter learns the importance of respecting and helping others."That's the way it is all over Ree.We take care of the young ones, you see? And respect and help the old ones, too. These two things are important to do."Jeeter and Dundee, the Wizard, head back home, but not before befriending the legendary Pookas and their Northern Ree Wizard, Blizzard."Said Jeeter and BeeBee with smiles on their faces. 'We'd both rather live in much warmer places!'This story demonstrates the value: Take care of children and respect and help parents.

Grades 1-3--A long, rambling story told in rhyme. After teaching his class about Planet Ree's northern area, Wizard Dundee and his assistant Jeeter set off to explore it and meet the Snow Pookas and other creatures that live there. The point of it all soon becomes completely lost. According to the publisher, "This story is about Take care of children and respect and help parents." It is full of glaring language inaccuracies, misspellings, an impossibly confusing cast of characters, and two-stanza refrains that fall far short of rhyming. Garishly colored cartoons fill the pages and endpapers with clutter. This didactic effort fails miserably on all counts.
