For 'Doc' Carlton, a passion for veterinary medicine continues to be his life's calling. In this fourth book of personal anecdotes, he relives more of the often bizarre events of his career. Traveling with Doc on farm calls, we get a glimpse of the fast-disappearing ranch life of Texas. And we again meet up with crusty cowpoke Pete Channel, and Doc's formidable Uncle Grump. During emergency surgeries, including those on a filly, an obese cat, and a puppy with an incurable malady, we discover the creative lengths that Doc and his team of three vets will go to in order to heal their patients.
