Nancy Bell Evans came to the Capitol with her husband, Governor Dan Evans, in 1965 as the state's youngest ever first lady. During his three terms in office, she established the Governor's Mansion Foundation, championed the restoration and expansion of the historic home , raised three young boys, and become one of Washington's most beloved first ladies. This is a fascinating story of an effervescent, wise and very accomplished owman who, through her many contributions, left her stamp on Olympia and the State of Washington.

About the Author
John C. Hughes joined the Washington State Legacy Project in Office of the Secretary of State as chief oral historian in 2008 after a 42-year career in journalism, retiring as editor and publisher of The Daily World in Aberdeen, Washington. An award-winning investigative reporter, columnist and historian, he is a trustee of the Washington State Historical Society and a former president of Allied Daily Newspapers of Washington.
