Synopsis
This richly illustrated work is the long awaited biography of Kent Ullberg, Swedish-born sculptor whose public monuments have come to symbolize an age of environmental awareness. With 184 illustrations, including many full-page color photographs of his magnificent works, it tells of his odyssey from boyhood in the seaport of Gothenburg to international acclaim. Ullberg's work is fired by direct experiences from the African wilderness to the Great Barrier Reef. His list of museum, government, corporate, and private patrons extends across four continents. His public monuments have won the hearts of those who cherish wildness in an increasingly developed world, and his pioneering designs, cast in both bronze and stainless steel, have earned him growing admiration from art historians and his peers. About the Author
Todd Wilkinson, who lives at the foot of the Bridger Mountains in Bozeman, Montana, has written about art and nature for a wide variety of international publications. He is the author of ten books, including the critically acclaimed Science Under Siege: The Politician's War on Nature and Truth. Like his subject, he has a Scandinavian heritage.
