Synopsis

A Man to Cross Rivers With is a historical novel based on Gunnison Sheriff "Doc" Shores. Raised on a Michigan farm, Doc Shores moved west as soon as he was old enough. He became a frontiersman, gunman, and eventually one of the most noted and respected lawmen in Gunnison County. This fictionalized novel describes adventures on the frontier from Montana to Kansas and Texas and Doc Shores move to Gunnison with his beloved wife.

About the Author

Richard Davis is a third generation Western Coloradan. His grandfather, John Davis, settled the 2 Bar K ranch outside Olathe. His father, Macy, farmed, ranched, and sold real estate. Richard is a 1963 graduate of Olathe High School. He received his BA and MA degrees from Colorado State University and attended law school in Chicago. He is presently living outside Denver with his wife Christine, two dogs, and two horses and he is working on a second book. Their goal is to return to the Western Slope when his wife competes law school at the University of Colorado.
