"Positively Pearl Street" is quite literally a slice through Boulder's past. The combination of two maps, 290 photos, and the text to tie them together reveal the city from its frontier days to the present, as seen through the eyes of residents and visitors on Pearl Street, the city's main thoroughfare. With a focus on the area between 8th and 21st streets, you too can view, firsthand, the changes in transportation, events and activities, and art and architecture as Pearl Street evolved from mud to mall.

Silvia Pettem came to Boulder from Pennsylvania in 1965 to attend the University of Colorado. After graduation, she made Boulder County her home, then spent her adult life researching and writing about Boulder history. She's the author of a dozen books including "Boulder: Evolution of a City" and "Separate Lives: The Story of Mary Rippon." She lives in the mountains with her husband and a cat and has two grown daughters and three grandchildren.
"It is high time that the story of Pearl Street be told. Silvia Pettem has done this history very well. The book shows a depth of research and presents a wealth of facts along with fascinating photos." --Laurence Paddock, retired editor, Camera
"Positively Pearl Street" is a lovingly researched photo album of a historically significant American main street, revealing its people, vitality, events, and adaptation. Pearl Street, once Boulder's commercial artery, has become its cultural heart and soul." --Richard Foy, Co-Chair, Communication Arts, Inc.
