Our text provides a good balance between encouraging student learning of fundamental statistical thinking and concepts on the one hand and exposing students to statistical methods that are highly useful in practice on the other hand. A remark about our books writing style; it is our pedagogical approach to always provide ample discussion so that the student can really conceptually "chew" on new material as it is presented. We could have written a shorter book, but we believe it would have also been a less understandable book.
