Synopsis
My life as an eye physician and surgeon inspired me to write about the satisfaction of helping others. The novel is based on 50 years of treating patients, the elation of successes and the agony of failures to give and to save sight. It shows what makes physicians carry on their work and to preserve their ideals in the face of managed healthcare and malpractice lawsuits.

About the Author
Rudi Binder was born in Vienna, Austria, where he earned his M.D. degree. He studied ophthalmology in Vienna and New York, and for many years worked as teacher and researcher at the Case Western Reserve Medical School in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1969, he obtained a law degree from the Marshall Law School of Cleveland State University and obtained an Ohio attorney's license. Presently he is practicing ophthalmology with his wife Hertha, also an eye surgeon, in a semi-rural area of Ohio.
