About the Author

Jerry Steingard holds a Master of Divinity from Regent College, Vancouver, and a Doctor of Practical Ministry from Wagner Leadership Institute. Jerry is author of The Overcomer’s Handbook: Preparing for the Best of Times, the Worst of Times and the End of Times. Jerry has pastored for 25 years. In addition, he has taught courses in revival church history, Christian doctrine, and world religions and cults, at the Catch the Fire Toronto School of Ministry for many years. He has also taken ministry teams to more than half a dozen nations. Jerry and his wife, Pam, have three grown children, Jonathan, Michael and Joanna, an amazing son–in–law, Collin Gibson, and daughter–in–law, Jesse, as well as one very cute grandson. Jerry and Pam currently live in Stratford, Ontario, Canada.

When I first heard about the movement of the Holy Spirit at Holy Trinity Brompton in London I honestly believed this was not the Holy Spirit. I find falling and laughing offensive! What is more, if it really was from God it would have come to Westminster Chapel first! I was both prejudiced and envious as we at Westminster Chapel had fasted and prayed, taken to the streets trying to reach the lost and putting my whole future and career on the line. We thought we deserved God's favour if anyone did! I was quite wrong to think this of course, but I could not bring myself to believe a true work of God came to an apostate Church of England, especially one filled with posh Etonian accents! But I was wrong. It took HTB's churchwarden Ken Costa to make me see what was actually happening. I began to tremble that I might not only have been wrong but in the tradition of those Evangelicals who in the past hundreds of years opposed the genuine work of the Spirit from the days of Jonathan Edwards to the Welsh Revival. Having previously warned my members at Westminster Chapel that what was happening in certain places was not from God I later climbed down publicly. Some of our deacons joined me at HTB and got prayed for. We then invited the vicar Sandy Millar to come to the Chapel and pray for us. The result was that HTB and Westminster Chapel developed a lovely relationship. When you read this book with an open mind you will see why I climbed down and subsequently embraced this offensive work of the Holy Spirit. I thank God all the time that He was patient with me and that I had the privilege to repent of my attitude and became a part of what God was doing. I pray He will lead every reader as He did me. To those who are already in this mould, you will love this book. Others will find this book troubling as I did when I first heard of this. My prayer is that you will follow me in 'climbing down' and becoming a part of a work of God that has not ended. I will add one more thing. Not only have I never been sorry I took the decision I did; subsequent occasions during which I got to know John and Carol Arnott have convinced me that we are dealing with people of wonderful and rare integrity.
