The Ottawa Rough Riders were once the sporting pride of Eastern Ontario. With great stars like Russ Jackson, Whit Tucker and Tony Gabriel - football heroes who were part of the very fabric of Canada's capital city - the Rough Riders captured Grey Cups and hearts of those young and old. But since their last Grey Cup in 1976, the Rough Riders gradually and slowly fell to the bottom of the Canadian Football League standings, out of favor with their fans, and no longer a source of pride in their community. The team of glorious warriors like Jackson and Gabriel became the team of Lonie Glieberman and Dexter Manley. In 1996, 20 years after their last Grey Cup victory and after years of terminal illness, the 120-year-old Rough Riders dissolved.
