Gareth Long is a conceptual artist who explores the infinitely reproducibile nature of video. By playing with translation, narrative and medium-specificity, his projects result in pieces far-removed from their source, often barely resembling the original in their new, compromised object-form. As a former student of video-pioneer Colin Campbell, Long and his work are a testament to Campbell's ongoing influence. Gareth Long has exhibited widely. His bookwork, Don Quixote, was recently purchased by the Museum of Modern Art Library.
