A heads-up for all of us. No one is safe anymore from identity theft and other white-collar crimes. However, there are ways to avoid being a victim, and the author shares them with us in this book.
Says Keighley, I have always been amazed at how simple identity theft is to perpetrate; the tools required are readily available. . . . identity theft is virtually unstoppable, and many of the perpetrators are never detected because . . . they are using your identification.
Title fraud, mortgage fraud, debit and credit card fraud are just a few of the crimes against the public that Keighley has investigated as a security consultant and now writes about. No one, says the author, is safe anymore--not at home, at work, or on holiday. Your personal information, available on your driver s licence, birth certificate, passport, etc., is what criminals are after.
Keighley offers advice on how to protect ourselves in a changing world, how to safeguard our identity, our property, our financial information, our credit cards. He introduces us to telephone and e-mail scams, and his stories are fascinating and horrifying. Pension scams are on the increase as our population ages. This is a book worth having.
