The poems of 13 find humanity and beauty within horror and despair, hope, humour and light within darkness.

About the Author

Alexis Kienlen is a poet, fiction writer, journalist and editor originally from Saskatoon. Her first book, "She Dreams in Red" was published by Frontenac House in April 2007. Her work has appeared in numerous publications including "Strike the Wok" (New Asian Canadian fiction - TSAR books 2004), "2000% Cracked Wheat" (Coteau Books), The Ottawa Citizen, Broken Pencil, Prairie Fire, and The Western Producer. She has received 10 awards related to her writing. From 2001-2006, she served as the Literary Editor for Ricepaper magazine, a Vancouver based quarterly that celebrates Asian Canadian art and culture. She was the mentor for the Edmonton Teen Writers Mentorship group, created by the Writers Guild of Alberta and hosted at the Edmonton Public Library. In June 2010, they launched a chapbook called "Elemental".
