Synopsis

Since his band broke up five years previously, ex-rocker Poet Springs has basically done squat. Cowered in his basement mostly. And why not? He had his fifteen minutes of fame. Well, eight or nine anyway. The thing is, every time he sets forth from his bunker, terrible stuff happens to him. He's hounded by an International female revenge cult with offices in Scandinavia and Saudi Arabia. He's threatened by ex-mental patients turned kickboxing champions. He's accused of seducing under-aged virgins and corrupting middle-aged surgeons. And too often, he winds up in the emergency ward; the result of coming in a distant second in various fist fights. Which may or may not explain the painful flashbacks from his days on the road. A past life populated by dwarf lawyers, crazed roadies, mobsters and groupies - and punctuated with bomb thefts, intermittent gunplay, Zamboni-jackings, acrobatic sex and occasionally even music. On the home front, things aren t much better. His wife Erika, is getting pretty chummy with hi-tech Baron J.P. Mandel whose Xanadu-like mansion she has been commissioned to decorate. And now she's come up with the thoroughly outrageous idea that Poet should get a job! With nothing to lose but his sanity, Poet must win back his wife, make peace with his past and stay one step ahead of both the neighbors and the cops. Which begs the question: when faced with a life in suburban hell, what's a burned out rock star to do?

About the Author

Richard Cooper is perhaps best known as one of the founding members of the The Cooper Brothers ; the 70s country-rock group that had a number of Billboard Top 100 hits and toured with the likes of the Doobie Brothers, Joe Cocker, Charlie Daniels and AC/DC. When the band members parted ways in the early 80s, Richard went on to write for a number of television series including the popular Nickelodeon children's show You Can t Do That On Television. Throughout the 80s and 90s Richard continued to work as a freelance writer, director and producer, in addition to composing musical scores for film and television. Richard was the Creative Director at Artech Studios where had written and developed games for the Playstation2, Xbox and PC and worked with the likes of Whoopi Goldberg, John O Hurley, Andy Serkis and John Cleese. Richard lives in Ottawa, Canada with his wife, two kids and a vintage 1952 Les Paul guitar which may or may not be stolen.
