Synopsis

This volume contains a selection of letters written by Blessed Rosmini during the last few years of his life. They are precious gems of spiritual direction which shows his wisdom and his total dedication to God and neighbour. His correspondents came from a great variety of backgrounds, and whether he was consoling someone who had suffered bereavement, or trying to save the vocation of a lay-brother in difficulties, he showed endless patience and concern. A striking feature of Rosmini is his ability both to “think big” and to go into minute details. What he recommended to others he practised himself. He regarded a religious vocation as a most sacred thing, and he was at pains, with endless patience, to help his brethren and his Sisters when they had problems in fulfilling the pledges they had made to God. Among the recipients of the letters included in this volume we find famous names, like St. John Bosco, Baroness Koenneritz, Nicolo’ Tommaseo, and names of famous politicians and of Cardinals and Bishops.
