Synopsis
Polish fliers had to fight for their existence from the chaotic beginnings in the aftermath of World War I, through the Nazi and Soviet juggernauts in September 1939. In White Eagles the authors describe, squadron by squadron in enormous detail, exactly how the well trained but isolated Poles fought bitterly against their invaders. Using outdated tactics and old equipment, they proved to be the most successful and courageous airmen to defend England during the summer of 1940.

About the Author
Robert Peczkowki and Bartlomeij Belcarz have collaborated on several aviation books and are regular contributors to Polish aviation magazines. In their research, Peczkowki and Belcarz had access to previously unpublished archival material, including original wartime documents, unit war diaries, personal accounts and pictures. The result is, to date, the most comprehensive account of the birth and tragic death of the first Polish air force.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. The book has a shifted spine, very minor shelfwear to the edges of the covers, and gently bumped top corners, otherwise the book is in very good condition with crisp, unmarked pages, a clean cover, and clear images throughout. The dustjacket has rubbing and surface scratching to both covers, smudging and surface staining from use to the white portions of the jacket, minor shelfwear to the edges and corners, light color transfer near the spine most notably near the bottom of the back cover, gently bumped top corners, a price clipped out of the bottom corner of the front flap, and a portion approx 3/8 inch wide missing at the top edge of the spine, otherwise the dustjacket is in good, attractive condition and is now in an archival protective mylar.
