Each chapter examines the perspective of one country (Austria-Hungary, France, Germany, Italy, Holland, Portugal, Russia and the US) and is written by an authority on that country. The assesses how perceptions of British policy and the future of the British Empire were altered. The Anglophobia of many of the nations' press, the activites of pro-Boer organizations, and the shaping of public and parlimentary opinion are examined alongside the official articulation and practice of imperial and defence policy.
