Synopsis

“For people who have been trained, educated and raised all of their lives to behave and play by the rules, it is extremely difficult to become creative, innovative and entrepreneurial all of a sudden. We know that more than 60% of all working people do NOT like their jobs. And you are still paying their salaries, while knowing that these 60% are not fulfilling their potential”.

“In order to be successful, companies need innovation. And to be innovative it is necessary to be creative and entrepreneurial. But being creative is just impossible for most of us, because were trained all of our lives not to be!”

Leen Zevenbergen’s book is a call for those in business to generate innovation within their businesses by being innovative themselves and also to encourage their staff to be innovative and creative, but in doing so to enjoy the process.

It is divided into four sections: Creativity, Enterprise, Sparkling, and Inspire. Going through the book you recognize these concepts immediately. It is in color throughout and written in a style that is easy-to-read, one that you can absorb in one go or browse when you have the opportunity, but above all, a cheerful and accessible book.

Leen describes a corporate vision radically different and fundamentally against the grain. Furthermore, he shows that it is possible to work towards such objectives while having fun. How? Against all odds, the keys to success are simple:

- Focus on the customer and the market regardless of the circumstances
- Reintroduce the possibility for everyone to be creative and innovative
- Allow everyone to meet challenges and achieve objectives
- Enhance the well-being at work, have fun, enjoy.

Leen Zevenbergen is a serial entrepreneur who has run three large multinationals and started about 20 new businesses including some in the United States and the UK. He is not the type of leader to put his foot down but in Rip Off Your Necktie and Dance he states that it is time for a change. As a leader and source of inspiration he has developed his own vision on the need for creative entrepreneurship.

Written for businesses worldwide--and with proven success within government departments--the book became Dutch Management Book of the Year and a bestseller, selling over 60,000 copies. Since then he has become one of the Netherlands most sought after speakers.
