About the Author

Henry McCausland
I always wanted to be a drawerer which led to studying illustration at Central St Martins, which has led to working as a freelance illustrator and sometimes animator and comics author. I live on the Kent coast which is boring, but I am inspired by finding interesting things in boring landscapes. It’s good to use your imagination! I have a 4-year-old daughter, hanging around with her is also a constant source of wonder, as well as traveling by train, drawing eyes on things and the way plants grow out of everything.”

Nick Sheehy
Nick Sheehy is an Australian-born artist and illustrator living in the south-east of England. After studying bronze sculpture in the wilds of Tasmania, Nick gave up on art only to re-discover his love of drawing whilst living in London, sparked by an interest in the city’s low brow art, illustration, street art and graffiti.
In his work, Nick explores the dreamlike, sometimes semi-autobiographical scenes and oddball characters that echo from his childhood imagination. Employing a laborious technique, building up layers of texture and thin color, his work infuses precision and attention to detail with random abstraction and clumsiness. He enjoys drawing various weird things for himself, exhibitions, publications and occasionally the odd client.

Kyle Platts
I make humor comics that are based on current affairs, pop culture and my own personal experiences. The content can be a mix of satire and pure crudeness; observations form the basis of my comics, but those observations have been exaggerated for comedic effect.
Developing a character, and then placing that character in different scenarios is my favored approach. Physical comedy is also important to me, I like to make sure my characters are funny to look at from the get go."

Reuben Mwaura
Born in 1987, Reuben Mwaura lost both his parents before he was ten. Reuben and his brother moses have had to fend for themselves in the slums outside of Nairobi for most of their lives. By force of intelligence, perseverance, integrity, and luck Reuben has set himself on the path out of Mathare - one of the most notorious slums in Africa. Later this year he will graduate from Nairobi university with a degree in economics.
He wrote the original draft of his story in a school textbook when he was sixteen.

Joe Kessler
Also born in 1987, Joe Kessler was raised in the lap of luxury. He has never had any major trauma. By force of intelligence, perseverance, integrity, and luck Joe has chosen a career which requires a high level of brilliance to achieve moderate success. His abilities are average at best. He is very keen.
He drew this story while studying illustration at Camberwell College of Arts in London.

Paperback. Condition: Very Good. Five artists were each given 10 pages to tell an original story in Nobrows celebrated 1723 format, and the results are unmissable. The first anthology of its kind in the UK, the 1723 Showcasewill feature the best up-and-comers from the UK comics scene, giving them each 10 pages to spin their fledgling yarns. The cover of this first issue was designed by the author of the 2012 Comica festival poster, Isaac Lenkiewicz, who uses his contribution to tell the enrapturing tale of Broadbright, the prodigal son of the Moon. The book also includes stories from Megaskull creator Kyle Platts, whose crass sense of humour and radioactive colour schemes will rock your comics world, Henry McCauseland, whose scratchy line is reminiscent of art-cartoonist extraordinaire C.F., surreal fantasist Nick Sheehy aka Showchicken and the unmistakable Joe Kessler, Nobrow team member and the cartoonist behind Mwara. Get your hands on the latest iteration of the series that launched Luke Pearsons career in all its bright and beautiful glory. Join us for the maiden voyages of these talented young artists as we showcase their talents for yet another generation of cartoonists. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged. Seller Inventory # GOR009468368
