About the Author

James Ford studied English and Classics at Worcester College, Oxford, before teaching English in Greece. He now lives and works in Brighton. John Malam studied ancient history and archaeology at the University of Birmingham, after which he worked as an archaeologist at the Ironbridge Gorge Museum, Shropshire. Sue Reid began writing stories when she was child and now writes for BBC Schools Radio. Her first book - Mill Girl - was published by Scholastic in 2002. Peter Hepplewhite is a former history teacher, now working for Tyne and Wear Archives as Education Officer. He has been a freelance writer for more than ten years.
