Thomas Hughes (20 October 1822 – 22 March 1896) was an English writer best known as the author of "Tom Brown's Schooldays".
American comics artist GERALD MCCANN contributed to the legendary Classics Illustrated series. McCann illustrated the adaptation of Alexandre Dumas's 'The Conspiritors', Jules Verne's 'Off on a Comet' and Francis Parkman's 'The Conspiracy of Pontiac' between in 1959 and 1960. He also cooperated on several special issues of the collection, such as 'Crossing the Rockies', 'Royal Canadian Mounted Police' and 'Men, Guns and Cattle'.
JOHN TARTAGLIONE is an American comic artist who has worked on several historical comics. He illustrated the comics biographies 'The Life of Pope John Paul II', 'Mother Teresa of Calcutta' for the Marvel group and 'Mickey Mantle: the unauthorized biography' for Personality Comics in the early 1980s. In the 1950s, Tartaglione illustrated two issues in the Classics Illustrated series: 'Won by the Sword' and 'Tom Brown's Schooldays'. His other credits include 'Dragonslayer', 'Captain Marvel', 'X-Men', and a 'Spiderman/Wolverine' crossover. John Tartaglione passed away in November 2003.
