Synopsis
Once these villages formed one of the greatest trading ports in Britain. How that port was destroyed by landowners, and how the landscape was refashioned by sometimes misguided attempts to protect it, lies at the heart of a story that spans more than two thousand years. From the decks of the ships to the bar of the Golden Goose, the history of this astonishing monument to natural forces and human endeavour is revealed through the voices of those who knew it best - the people who lived at the time.
