Synopsis

In The Space Between Time, we find the intrepid couple enjoying a peaceful and romantic picnic by the River Rother when a motor launch turns up complete with Mr Wells. Apparently, a certain Mr Tesla has conducted one of his electro-magnetic experiments which has fractured time and dumped everyone in an alternative world of 1895.The problem is that only a few people have noticed the difference.Mr Wells wondered if James and Elizabeth would like to help.Naturally, they declined his offer, suddenly remembering a previous engagement, which required urgent attention. However, due to a quirk in time, they found themselves stuck in the 1890s. Normally, this was of no great consequence to our Time Travellers. But it seems in the 1890s, the good people of Iping frowned upon ladies promenading in T-shirts and short summer skirts on a Sunday afternoon .And so, they reluctantly accepted Mr Well’s offer. Though not without considerable comment by Elizabeth regarding men’s attitude to women’s fashion.

From the Author

There are many stories on the internet about Nikola Tesla regarding time travel and communications with Martians. One story reports that after conducting an experiment with his resonant transformer he claimed he found himself in an entirely different time and space, where he could see the past, present, and future at the same time! There are also claims that he tried to communicate with MarsHowever, what we do know is that on 13th March 1895, his laboratory was destroyed by fire and this was the same year H. G. Wells published his book 'The Time Machine'.As I use Wells quite regularly in my books I thought I could bring in Tesla and embellish some of his 'facts'. In this book I have him working on his electrical resonant transformer the day before the tragic fire and accidently cause a massive E-M pulse which shifts time across to an alternate parallel world. My intrepid time travelling adventurers are then given the task by Wells, who seems to know a lot about the Martians, to stitch time back together again. I can only wish them luck.
