Synopsis

The words ‘buffed’ can mean a lot of things. We go to the gym to ‘get buffed’. To a bodybuilder it may mean to get big and lean. To a powerlifter it might mean to get strong and big. To an Olympic lifter it might mean to get strong and explosive. To an athlete it means getting the strength and shape to optimise their performance. To the average person in a health club it may mean to get lean, muscular and fit.

Call it what you want – it’s getting buffed!

Whatever your goals, getting buffed can be a lot of fun, and very rewarding. It can also mean a better quality or longer life; and greater social, personal and financial rewards.

Whatever ‘getting buffed’ means to or does for you, there will be something in this book that assists you to do it better!

Get Buffed! takes you along a path less travelled, including :

  • The concept that there is more to the training effect than training.
  • How to apply the powerful concept of the fatigue curve in making daily decisions about how hard, long and often to train.
  • The low-down, street explanation on periodization of strength and how to use it.
  • A review of how often, hard, long to train for, how long to rest, how many sets, reps, speed of movement etc.
  • Unlocking the secrets of which muscle groups to train together and why.
  • Understanding how much variety to use, and how to apply it.
  • How to ‘insure’ your training efforts against injuries, and what to do when they do occur.
  • How and when to use belts, wraps, straps and other training aids.
  • Understanding how various factors affect the rate at which you recover.
  • Using goal setting and planning effectively.
  • Learn how to analyze and trouble-shoot your training program and lifestyle.
  • A sample 12 week split routine – step by step.
  • A collection of questions and answers about pertinent topics.

Read Get Buffed! and immediately improve your training and the results!

What others have said

Ian King has gained a great deal of popularity amidst the hard-working and smart-working core of bodybuilders who want a more complete understanding of the “why” and “how come” beneath the surface of muscle building. He gives the student of weight training insight into every practical question he or she would ever ask about getting bigger, stronger and leaner: how to determine the true training effect of working out, how to gauge how long, how often, how many exercises, sets and reps and in what order; training duration, speed and cadence of reps, fatigue and recovery. Like stacking forty-five pound plates on an Olympic bar, The King goes on and on teaching truths and expelling doubts. “Get Buffed” is a muscle builder’s reliable fact reference.—Dave Draper (the ‘Blonde Bomber’)

I actually have an old physical copy of the first Get Buffed! book. Honestly its probably the best book I’ve read on the subject of fitness and strength and from just doing the first three weeks in the sample program I’ve been seeing improvements in my physique. I wish I was working out this way my whole life haha. Now that I have Get Buffed! II, I plan to get the Get Buffed! III in the future as well. I’m sure it will be a welcome addition to my library!-Thank you.–Isaiah, CAN

15 years ago, my body was destroyed from 18 years of training wrong way. I listened to wrong “gurus“. My body was in constant pain, shoulders, lower back, knees elbows. Then I remembered your articles on t-nation. I downloaded them all, found SWIS videos, and I was lucky that somebody was selling Get Buffed! 1, Get Buffed! 2, How to Write, How to Teach, and the Foundations books. I was really lucky. I to study your famous concepts, and they really helped me to restore my health. I use your concepts in my training, so I can testify that they really do work. —Hans, SLO
