In September 1944, the Allied Generals thought that a 35,000 man airborne spearhead would crush the Germans in the Netherlands to open the way to Berlin - and they might have been right. However, not everyone wanted the war to be over by Christmas. Unbeknownst to the Generals, certain powers were at work to sabotage Operation Market Garden. Caught up in the debacle is David McDonald, a young Royal Engineer officer with the British 1st Airborne Division. David saw something that he wasn’t supposed to see and now has someone other than the Germans trying to kill him. Also in precarious situations are Colin Campbell, a young signals officer who will do anything to escape his past life, Robert Salerno, an industry problem-solver who finds himself far closer to the front lines than he wants to be, and the loud and arrogant double agent, King Kong. All of them have to deal with the reality of a military operation gone disastrously wrong as they struggle to survive. None of them realize that whenever there are losers, somewhere there are those who benefit from the misfortunes of others.
