A strong debut collection of poetry from an up-and-coming Toronto poet. James is well-connected in Toronto, and has been selling books at Type Books for a long time. These are slightly surreal lyric poems. There’s an incredible awareness of pop culture in them, a playfulness and a sly awareness of the world. There’s a poem where Stephen Harper walks the author to school and another poem about someone hunting Yetis. Lindsay covers a lot of interesting ground in this book and is a talent to be watched.

“James Lindsay can do everything. Our Inland Sea has surreal asides, belly laughs, and dismay aplenty, but its default mode is the tension of the infinitely possible.” —Jacob McArthur Mooney
