About the Author:

Beth P. Houser, RN, MS, FNP-c, DNSc, is director of Critical Care and Telemetry at Scottsdale Healthcare, Shea and Osborn Hospitals. She is a magnet appraiser for the American Nurses Credentialing Center and a Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellow. She graduated from the University of Arizona in 1978 with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, and 20 years later completed her Master of Science degree from Arizona State University as a family nurse practitioner. In August 2004, Beth obtained her doctorate in nursing from Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing.

Kathy Player, RN, EdD, MBA, MSN, is dean of the Ken Blanchard College of Business at Grand Canyon University. She coordinated the development of an HLC-accredited Master of Science in Leadership program, which has been widely received by the healthcare community. Kathy has an extensive background in healthcare. She graduated with her doctoral degree from the University of Sarasota in Counseling Psychology and holds a master of science in counseling from Nova Southeastern University and a bachelor of science in nursing from St. Josephs College. She completed an MBA and master of science in nursing in 2007.
