What organizations of all kinds need today are more growth leaders at every level. They need more people who will view the world differently, conceive new possibilities, offer up innovative options, and lead others to produce and achieve higher levels of consistent growth. Organizations need more people who will challenge the way things get done, and navigate through the maze of real and cultural barriers they face. Without these people, ongoing profitable growth, perhaps even survival, will be at greater risk. There is No Box describes what you must have inside in order to be a growth leader and how to further develop those capabilities in yourself and your organization.

There is an expression comparing the similarities between surviving as an organization today and running the mile. You have to run the first three laps as fast as you possibly can, and then significantly pick up speed on the last one. Sound familiar? There is really only one sound strategy for ongoing survival and that is growth - profitable, enduring growth. People and their organizations have to figure out how to consistently create new ways to add value and to remain distinctive. And they have to earn an adequate return in order to continue staying in the game. Many organizations struggle with growth because it is extremely difficult. Even with capital available for acquisitions, coupled with good systems, structures and technology, growth is still elusive. For as vital as these assets are, they are not enough. Along with them, organizations need people who have what it takes to be capable of creating and capitalizing on growth opportunities. Simply hoping that people do have what it takes to willingly take some risks or even venture outside the box, is not a solid strategy to ensure growth will occur. Discover the attributes that are most common in people who have the proven ability to push beyond the comfortable but often stagnating status quo, and initiate and deliver original avenues of bold innovation and groundbreaking growth.
There have always been people who believed the future could be different and better. Contrary to many, they accepted the challenge to do something about it. So much of what is taken for granted today has grown from something that was once considered impossible. Many of these breakthroughs required somebody, somewhere to struggle against some very strong currents in order to bring them about. Think about that the next time you use your cell phone, take a new wonder drug or exercise your freedom to vote. Thank goodness people and organizations have stepped up and tackled head on the challenges that lead to profitable and lasting growth. They have made an impact in our world. How about you? Are you satisfied with going along for the ride of the status quo, or will you choose to be one of these growth leaders going forward?
