Synopsis
In finely wrought image-driven poems, 'The Empty Boat' explores the spiritual and aesthetic dimensions of the human relationship to the natural world, asking how nature speaks to us and what wisdom and solace it may offer the tragic aspects of our lives. About the Author
Michael Sowder is assistant professor of English at Utah State University. The Empty Boat won the 2004 T. S. Eliot Prize for Poetry. Sowder s chapbook, A Calendar of Crows, was winner of the 2001 New Michigan Press chapbook award, and his poems have appeared in anthologies and journals.
