About the Author

Barbara S. Cohen is a clinical psychologist by day, an oboist at night and a children's book author in-between. She lives in Glen Cove, New York with her husband and all the animals left behind by her daughter who went away to college.

Petey wakes Skip, plays catch to make sure Skip gets his exercise, does tricks for him when he is feeling sick, and teaches him to greet the neighbors and make friends. Hall's colorful, cartoonlike illustrations hilariously depict the scenes: "When he eats too much he doesn't feel well so I help him finish his food. (It's a hard job!)," says Petey, pictured under the table lapping up peas and mashed potatoes.
