This book gives hope and purpose to everyone who has ever asked - why am I alive? Ron DePriest's shocking story touches the heart's hidden depths to clarify life's essential questions and illustrates God's willingness to fix what people ruin.
Blueprint for Hatred
In reflex to the beautiful balance of the new 5906 Smith and Wesson, my hand bobbed a couple times as I pulled it out of the glove box. The muzzle felt especially cool against the 100-degree-plus heat of Meridian, Texas.
Smith and Wesson were my friends, my remedy for the fact that I could not stand what I was - so stinking religious that I hated what I saw in the mirror. Empty of a real relationship with God, I'd become just like those pretenders at Sunday services who carried out their weekly duty as a formality. Guys I had wanted to kill in earlier years. Now I was one of them, and a quick death seemed only right.
To end my misery, I had driven out of town with my 9mm handgun, screaming at God all the way, "I ain't no good the way I am. I'm worse now than before I met You!" I had fallen off the spiritual road with the Living God and stepped onto a religious journey - one that was manmade, carnal and so full of me that I'd lost the presence of God. I had become what I had always hated most - a religious phony! Gone was God's miraculous power from when He saved me out of my murderous background. Behind me were the shouts of praise from people rushing to follow Christ after hearing my story. I had quit the ministry, and Minnie and I had lost everything. I didn't care. I didn't want to be around Christians, and I definitely didn't want to preach again, ever.
